Bringt Apple Safari 5 zur WWDC ?

In den letzten Wochen sind rund um die bevorstehende Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) bereits viele Gerüchte aufgetaucht, welche Neuheiten Apple im Rahmen der Konferenz vorstellen könnten. Neben den Hinweisen auf ein iPhone 4G, iPhone OS 4.0, einem neuen Mac Pro / MacBook Air gesellt sich ab sofort ein neues Gerücht hinzu. Wie es heißt, veröffentlicht Apple ein großes Safari Update und bringt Safari 5. Die neue Version soll zahlreiche Neuerungen und Verbesserungen mit sich bringen.

So soll das Update auf Version 5.0 einen speziellen „Safari Reader“ bereithalten, der auf Knopfdruck den Artikel auf einer Seite ohne störende Elemente darstellt. Wie Apple dies allerdings umsetzen soll, bleibt noch unklar. Zudem soll Safari 5 einen deutlichen Geschwindigkeitszuwachs mit sich bringen. Javascript soll um 25% schneller sein als in Safari 4. Und auch in Sachen HTML5 soll Apple dem Browser weitere Optimierungen gegönnt haben, so sollen sich z.B. HTML5 Videos zukünftig im Vollbild-Modus abspielen lassen.

Als weitere Features nennt MacGeneration (deutsche Google Übersetzung): schlaue Adressleiste, die bei der Texteingabe auch im Verlauf sucht, Bing Suche im Safari Suchfeld, DNS Prefetching, eine neue Zeitleiste bei den Safari Developer Tools, Hardwarebeschleunigung für Windows User.

Other improvements include:

• Smarter Address Field: The Smart Address Field can now match text against the?titles of webpages in History and Bookmarks, as well as any part of their URL
• Hardware Acceleration for Windows: Use the power of the computer’s graphics?processor to smoothly display media and effects on PC as well as Mac
• Search History with Date: A new date indicator in Full History Search shows when webpages were viewed
• Private Browsing Icon: A „Private“ icon appears in the Smart Address Field when Private Browsing is on. Click on the icon to turn off Private Browsing
• DNS Prefetching: Safari looks up the addresses of links on webpages and can load those pages faster
• XSS Auditor: Safari can filter potentially malicious scripts used in cross-site scripting (XSSI attacks
• Improved JavaScript Support: Safari allows web applications that use JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) to run faster and more securely
