AppleTV 4G: neue Hinweise aufgetaucht

Neben den Gerüchten zur iWatch reißen auch die Gerüchte zu einer neuen AppleTV Generation nicht ab. So haben wir z.B. hier und dort darüber berichtet, dass Apple an AppleTV 4G und somit am Nachfolger der aktuellen Generation arbeitet. Unter anderem heißt es, dass Apple an einem App Store für AppleTV arbeitet. In iOS 7 Builds zeigte sich bereits ein Hinweis AppleTV 4 (AppleTV 4,1).

In einer Meldung an die Federal Communications Commission (FCC), die die Verschmelzung der Unternehmen Time Warner Cable und Comcast behandelt, ist die Rede davon, dass Apple an einer neuen AppleTV Generation arbeitet.

Today, Google competes as a network, video, and technology provider, and 8 out 9 of the next Google Fiber markets the company announced are in Comcast or TWC areas.  Apple tablets are viewing platforms for cable services even while Apple offers an online video service, Apple TV, and explores development of an Apple set-top box.  Microsoft just announced that it will feature ads on the Xbox One, creating a new video advertising platform.  And just last week, Amazon announced its own set-top box while it continues to leverage its unequaled sales platform and family of competitive tablets to promote its burgeoning Prime Instant Video business.

Die beiden Kabelnetzbetreiber umschreiben den gesteigerten Wettbewerb, die sie durch Google, Amazon, Microsoft und Apple erleben. Dabei geht aus dem Schreiben hervor, dass Apple eine neue Set-Top-Box entwickelt. Schon mehrfach war zu lesen, dass Apple die Nähe zu Kabelnetzbetreibern sucht, um mit diesen zu kooperieren. Zuletzt hieß es, dass Apple mit Comcast kooperiert.
