Apple kritisiert US-Einreisestopp für Muslime

Diese Woche hatte US-Präsident Donald Trump strenge Beschränkungen für eine USA-Einreise von Menschen aus einigen muslimischen Ländern angeordnet. Nun hat Tim Cook in einem Rundschreiben an seine Mitarbeiter erklärt, dass Apple den Einreisestopp für Muslime nicht unterstützt.

Ohne Zuwanderer gäbe es kein Apple

Die letzten Monate gestalteten sich für amerikanische Unternehmen sehr politisch. So sprachen Branchen-Größen, wie Apple, Google und Facebook mehrfach Kontroversen an. Das Mediennetzwerk TheVerge ermöglicht uns nun, mit der Veröffentlichung eines internen Rundschreibens, einen Einblick in Tim Cooks Gedanken über den Immigrations-Stopp.

In dem Brief macht Tim Cook deutlich, dass Apple ohne Zuwanderer nicht existieren würde. Die Zuwanderung ist für Apple somit ein fundamentaler Bestandteil, so wie sie es auch für die USA sei. Apple kann die Entscheidung zum Einreisestopp nicht unterstützten.

Da Angestellte in den betroffenen Ländern arbeiten, ist auch Apple von der Anordnung betroffen. Diesbezüglich stehe man jedoch bereits in Kontakt mit den Mitarbeiten. Weiterhin wird Apple das Gespräch mit der US-Regierung suchen, um die Auswirkungen eines solchen Einreisestopp zu verdeutlichen. In my conversations with officials here in Washington this week, I’ve made it clear that Apple believes deeply in the importance of immigration — both to our company and to our nation’s future. Apple would not exist without immigration, let alone thrive and innovate the way we do.

I’ve heard from many of you who are deeply concerned about the executive order issued yesterday restricting immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries. I share your concerns. It is not a policy we support.

There are employees at Apple who are directly affected by yesterday’s immigration order. Our HR, Legal and Security teams are in contact with them, and Apple will do everything we can to support them. We’re providing resources on AppleWeb for anyone with questions or concerns about immigration policies. And we have reached out to the White House to explain the negative effect on our coworkers and our company.

As I’ve said many times, diversity makes our team stronger. And if there’s one thing I know about the people at Apple, it’s the depth of our empathy and support for one another. It’s as important now as it’s ever been, and it will not weaken one bit. I know I can count on all of you to make sure everyone at Apple feels welcome, respected and valued.

Um seinen Gedanken gebührend abzuschließen, beendet Tim Cook seinem Brief mit einem Zitat von Dr. Martin Luther King:

„Wir sind vielleicht auf verschiedenen Schiffen gekommen, aber jetzt sitzen wir alle im selben Boot“

Auch Google, Microsoft und Facebook sitzen in einem Boot

Das Thema schlägt natürlich nicht nur bei Apple hohe Wellen. Google reagierte ebenfalls auf die neue Gesetzeslage und hat alle betroffenen Mitarbeiter in die USA zurückgerufen.

Währenddessen gibt es auch Kritik von Mark Zuckerberg. Der Chef von Facebook und Enkel von Einwanderern, teilte in einem Beitrag auf Facebook seinen Unmut in Bezug auf die neuen Einschränkungen mit.

Auch Microsofts CEO Satya Nadella teilte seine Gedanken in einem internen Memo, welches auch auf LinkedIn veröffentlicht wurde. So sei er selber als Immigrant eingereist, um in den USA zu arbeiten. Eine Chance die jeder haben sollte.
