Mitte Januar kündigte Apple an, dass iTunes Radio als kostenloser Dienst einegstellt wird und Radiosender nur noch mit Apple Music Abo zu hören sind. Am heutigen Tag wird das Ganze umgesetzt. Eine Ausnahme bildet Beats 1. Dieser Sender ist kostenlos nutzbar.

Das werbegestützte iTunes Radio war nur in den USA und Australien verfügbar und im Funktionsumfang beschnitten. Ab sofort lassen sich Radiosender über iTunes am Mac oder den iOS-Gräten nur noch mit gültigen Apple Music Abo anhören.

Eine Ausnahme gibt es jedoch. Apples 24/7 Live-Radiosender Beats 1 kann von allen Anwendern mit Apple ID kostenlos angehört werden.
