Disney CEO Bob Iger verlässt Apple Aufsichtsrat – Konflikt Apple TV+ und Disney+

Apple und Disney verbindet eine langjährige Partnerschaft. So saß zum Beispiel in den letzten Jahren Disney Bob Iger im Apple Aufsichtsrat. Dieses „Engagement“ endete zum 10. September.2019. Der Grund hierfür dürfte der Interessenskonflikt zwischen Apple TV+ und Disney+ sein.

Bob Iger verlässt Apple Aufsichtsrat

Wie aus einer Meldung an die US-Börsenaufsicht hervorgeht, hat Disney CEO Bob Iger den Apple Aufsichtsrat zu 10. September verlassen hat. Dies ist der selbe Tag, an dem Apple im Rahmen der iPhone 11 Keynote bekannt gegeben hat, dass Apple TV+ 4,99 Euro pro Monat koten wird. Gleichzeitig hieß es, dass Apple TV+ am 01. November starten wird. Elf Tage später startet übrigens Disney+ am 12. November.

Bereits in der Vergangenheit kam die Diskussion auf, inwiefern ein Interessenkonflikt vorliegt, wenn Bob Iger auf der einen Seite als Disney-Chef einen Streaming-Dienst namens Disney+ auf den markt bringt und auf der anderen Seite als Mitglied im Apple Aufsichtsrat bei Apple TV+ involviert ist. Nun gibt es eine ganz klare Trennung und Iger verlässt den Apple Aufsichtsrat. 

Bob Iger hat sich gegenüber CNBC wie folgt geäußert

“It has been an extraordinary privilege to have served on the Apple board for 8 years, and I have the utmost respect for Tim Cook, his team at Apple, and for my fellow board members,” Iger said in a statement. “Apple is one of the world’s most admired companies, known for the quality and integrity of its products and its people, and I am forever grateful to have served as a member of the company’s board.”

„Bob has been an exemplary board member for nearly eight years, and for as long as he has led Disney he has been one of Apple’s most trusted business partners. He is a dedicated, visionary CEO and a role model for an entire generation of business leaders. More than anything, Bob is our friend. He leads with his heart and he has always been generous with his time and advice. While we will greatly miss his contributions as a board member, we respect his decision and we have every expectation that our relationship with both Bob and Disney will continue far into the future.”
