Intel hat am Dienstag bekannt gegeben, dass die erste Welle der kommenden Ivy Bridge Generation die Quad-Core Modelle u.a. für Desktop-Computer beinhalten wird. Mit der zweiten Welle wird Intel Dual-Core-CPUs liefern, die zahlreiche Notebooks abdecken wird.
Wie CNet berichtet, hat Intel CEO Paul Otellini diese Informationen am Dienstag im Rahmen der Bekanntgabe der Quartalszahlen mitgeteilt.
The first versions of Ivy Bridge that we’re shipping are quad cores, and then bulk of those are going into desktops, and then the second launch of the products is in the dual core, which is the mainstream notebooks. So I think that helps put a profile over the course of quarter as well.
Intel habe den Ivy Bridge Verkaufsstart um drei Wochen verschoben, um ausreichend Stückzahlen in der Pipeline zu haben. In der kommenden Woche dürfte der Ivy Bridge Start stattfinden. Die Aussage des Intel-Chefs lässt nach wie vor Spielraum zu den kommenden MacBook Pro 2012. Aktuell setzt Apple für sein 15-Zoll und 17-Zoll MacBook Pro Quad-Core Prozessoren ein. Im 13-Zoll MacBook Pro kommt eine Dual-Core CPU zum Einsatz.
